John Mayer at the Beacon Theater in NYC

Concert Review Add comments

We arrived at the Beacon Theater with much excitement about the John Mayer show.  The lines were going around the block early as this was a highly anticipated show, especially since it was being filmed for Fuse.  In addition, this was my first time to the Beacon and the venue is beautiful, elegant and has great sound.

As we took our sites the lights started to dim and Mayer and band entered the stage to the eruption of the crowd.  John is the apitamany of a rock star and has a great stage presence.  He greeted the crowd and started the opening chords of "Heartbreak Warfare" which is his new single.  This was the first time I heard the song and I thought it was absolutely great.  The song is crisp, smooth and the kind of song that makes you want to cruise in a car late at night.  This was my girlfriend's first Mayer show and there is no denying that the ladies love Mayer.  Aside of Mayer's music, there is no doubt about the talent of musicians on the stage.  His band features an amazing drummer by the name of Steve Jordan and it's an understatement to say Mayer can play the guitar.

Throughout the set he played fan favorites except my favorite which is "Say".  I have to say the show stealer was he rendition of "Free Fallin".  Overall this was a fabulous show and it definitely shows why John Mayer is as big as he is, he's a true talent.
